Anti Wrinkle Injections (Botox)

A professional treatment to smooth lines and wrinkles for a younger, rejuvenated appearance.

Botox is used for the treatment of expression lines - frown lines, worry lines, crows feet, etc. Botox is injected into the affected areas providing a simple, safe, nonsurgical solution which has no long-term side effects.

How Anti Wrinkle Injections Work

Botulinum toxin, is a natural, purified protein, produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. It is used to temporarily relax the muscles in the face responsible for causing lines and wrinkles.

The toxin works by blocking the transition of chemical messages sent from the nerve to the muscle which would ordinarily cause the muscle to contract. While these messages are suppressed, the muscle remains relaxed and the facial expression lines appear reduced.

Anti Wrinkle Injections can be used on the forehead lines, frown lines, crow's feet, bunny lines (lines in the nose), chin (for dimpling), skin bands on the neck, and around the mouth (for smoker's lines and down-turned corners of the mouth).

Anti Wrinkle Injection Procedure

Botulinum Toxin is a prescription only medicine, so you must have a face-to-face consultation with my licensed nurse prescriber, prior to treatment. An appointment can be made at my clinic.

A very fine needle is used for the injection(s) and generally the treatment is not painful and can be administered without anaesthetic. For nervous patients we use ice to numb the skin and reduce bruising.

The entire process is completed in approximately 30 minutes.

Effects of Anti Wrinkle Injections

The temporary side effects of the procedure should only last a few days and may include swelling, bruising and redness/tenderness.

You will start to see the effects of your anti-wrinkle treatment after 2 or 3 days. The full effects may be judged after 2 to 3 weeks and typically last 12 weeks or more.
