IPRF Vampire Facelift

Injectable Platlet Rich Fibrin (IPRF) therapy, as seen on The Kardashians, uses the body's own natural healing powers to slow and even reverse the ageing process.

Platelets harvested from the patients own blood are injected into problem skin areas, placing growth factors in the exact location where we want the skin to repair and rejuvenate itself. The growth factors released by these platelets cause the surrounding cells to proliferate, rejuvenating the skin by stimulating repair and increasing volume.

How IPRF Therapy Works

IPRF therapy is also known as the Vampire Facelift because it involves injecting platelets from the patient's own blood into problem skin areas. A small amount of blood is taken from the patient and put into a centrifuge, to separate the red blood cells from the platelet-rich plasma.

The platelet plasma, which is known for being highly effective in treating burns and skin injuries, is then injected into the chosen area, where it plumps up the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Growth factors released by the platelets stimulate fibroblast cells to create collagen, which helps gives the skin a youthful, radiant appearance and stimulate pre-adipocyte cells to convert to fat cells, which help to fill out lines and wrinkles, to contour the face.

IPRF Vampire Facelift Procedure

Two weeks prior to treatment you must stop taking any blood thinner medication such as Ibuprofen.

Once we have discussed your treatment and you have signed the consent forms, we take photographs to enable a "before and after" comparison. We draw ~20ml of blood, in a similar way to a blood test at the doctors and your blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the red cells from the plasma.

We advise no makeup to be worn on date of treatment. We cleanse the skin thoroughly before applying antiseptic and a topical local anaesthetic to the injection sites. The IPRF is injected into the skin using a very fine needle. Multiple injections are given in multiple sites to give an overall improvement to the area. We may use an ice pack to reduce any swelling.

The entire process is completed in approximately 60 minutes.

Effects of IPRF Therapy

Immediately after the treatment, most people experience some minor bruising, swelling and redness at the injection sites. This reduces significantly within 48 hours. During this time we may recommend using Paracetamol and/or cold compresses to treat any pain/swelling.

The results of the IPRF therapy may take a few weeks to become visible, but with two to three top-up treatments, you can expect the results of IPRF therapy to last for up to one and a half years.

Injectable Platlet Rich Fibrin (IPRF) vs Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Chrissy's Aesthetics have long been firm advocates of PRP treatment and have performed hundreds of treatments over the years. Since learning about the added benefits of IPRF, we now recommend this superior treatment to our clients.

While PRP and IPRF both contain healing and regenerative growth factors, IPRF contains more platelets per microlitre in addition to leukocytes and mesenchymal stem cell. Furthermore, the platelets in PRP are inactive due to anti-coagulant. It is only once platelets are activated that they release the growth factors.

The advantage is a more effective plasma that lasts significantly longer when injected or micro needled into the tissue, making IPRF more biocompatible and effective.

Researched pioneered by an independent UKAS Haematology laboratory led to the scientific data proving the platelet count in IPRF to be nearly double that of PRP.
